I’ve told everybody who will listen: my wife is one of the best cooks on the planet when it comes to hearty comfort food and interesting dishes. She created another one for Christmas, and I’ve been inundated with recipe requests ever since.
It’s called Egg Nog French Toast Casserole.

I’d give credit to the original creator of this dish, but I don’t know who it is. And I just asked Kristi. She doesn’t know either!
Ingredients:
1 loaf French Bread
8 oz. Cream Cheese
10 Eggs
2 cups Eggnog
14 teaspoon Nutmeg
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
Instructions:
Slice and cube bread into 1-inch cubes.
Layer half into greased 9″ x 13″ pan.
Cube cream cheese into small pieces and scatter across bread in pan.
Cover with remaining bread cubes.
Mix eggs, eggnog, cinnamon & nutmeg.
Pour over bread mixture, making sure that bread is completely covered.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, bake uncovered at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean.
Serve with maple syrup. We served ours with maple syrup we got at a sugar shack in rural Quebec. It’s legit.
Serves 8.
In our case, serves 2. Not at once, of course. But we paired ours with some maple bacon and a couple of Mimosas.
You’re welcome.
If anybody knows the original author of this recipe, I’ll gladly give credit!
