Norman, OK (Original Song)

This sounds like more of a commercial than an original song, I suppose. But the chorus line of, “I’m gonna show you a good time in Norman, OK” kept running through my head.

If I play this live, I’ll likely do a much bluesier version, maybe even slow it down some.

Anyway, video and lyrics below.

NORMAN, OK
c. 2009 Ryan Welton

VERSE 1:
It's been cold in Oklahoma every day
Ah, the winter throws my life in disarray

But the evening is not lost
And, I'll keep my fingers crossed
That the frozen stuff stays away

Oh, the gray skies color winter's unrest
And until March, I'm a little depressed

But the snow can't stop me now
And the cold won't get me down
So, put on your face, let's get out and play

CHORUS:
I'm gonna show you a good time in Norman, OK (LA)
You'll kick up your heels, and I'll lead the way
Stay out way past midnight
Greet a new day
Right here in Norman, OK

VERSE 2:
It doesn't matter where you live, so you know
Oklahoma's where I am, so there you go

I won't let the lack of heat
Paralyze my aching feet
I'll grab my coat, let's get out and play

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
But the evening is not lost
And, I'll keep my fingers crossed
That even if sleets or it snows
Baby, we still gonna goes
By sled or a snowboard or maybe a sleigh
